I have 25 years’ experience in acting for claimants in respect of compensation claims. A significant proportion of my work has always involved industrial disease claims and in June 2005 I came to Boyes Turner to establish what has become one of the most successful Asbestos Litigation teams in the country. In 2011 alone I recovered over £3.8M for my clients including 300K for the family of a self employed engineer who was exposed to asbestos whilst engaged as a trainee engineer at Rolls Royce and contracted mesothelioma as a result, 380K for the family of another self employed engineer who was exposed in the early days of his period of employment and 475K for the family of an engineer who was exposed to asbestos whilst installing ducting at the Lucas Battery factory in the midlands.

I deal with all manner of asbestos related claims including mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, pleural thickening and pulmonary fibrosis. I am also pursuing several otolaryngeal cancer cases which are linked to asbestos exposure.

I have dealt with several ground breaking cases including Streets-v- Esso which established the dependency rights of an adult child who relies on his parents for maintenance whilst pursuing an internship .

Some of our most pleasing results have been achieved as a result of being able to successfully conclude claims for clients who have been turned away by other firms who have felt unable to proceed, either because they cannot locate sufficient evidence or because they cannot locate appropriate insurers.

I have 20 years’ experience in compensation claims. For the past 15 years I have acted exclusively for injured claimants. I specialise in claims for individuals and families affected by asbestos related illnesses. In the last 3 years alone I have recovered over £3 million for injured claimants.

I pursue claims for asbestos related illnesses including Mesothelioma, Lung Cancer, Asbestosis and Pleural Thickening. I have dealt with several groundbreaking and reported cases, including P v Portline, a merchant navy case which pushed back the date of knowledge for an apparently bluewater shipping company by many years – to 1955/8.

Other notable recent successes include £375K for a journalist who had developed Mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos whilst doing summer building jobs in his university vacations, and a further £50K for his father – who he had worked alongside, and who had died of Mesothelioma. I have also recently secured interim payment for the family of a 59 year old woman who died of Mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos from her husband’s work clothes, when he was in the Royal Navy.

Michael is a Senior Solicitor with Moore Blatch Resolve. He has over twelve years' experience specialising in asbestos-related disease claims.

He has written a book - 'Asbestos Disease Claims: A Guide for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals' - and has served on the steering committee of the British Lung Foundation's mesothelioma awareness campaign.
